WARREN COUNTY LIBRARY PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE MAP E-CONTENT
December 14, 2009 – Warren County Library now offers free access to the world’s most useful online map database. AtoZMapsOnline.com – with its collection of more than 146,000 maps – is the only product that combines such a large database of static, animated, real-time, scientific, and antique maps in one easy to access place.
All of our patrons, including students, teachers, administrators and businesspeople, can download and use the tens of thousands of maps in any way they wish. This includes use for print and electronic reports, so long as the map is not resold.
A sampling of features contained in AtoZMapsOnline.com includes: outline maps, political maps, physical maps, thematic maps, climate change maps, environment maps, historic maps, hurricane maps, earthquake maps, volcano maps, fire maps, animal and plant species distribution maps, current event maps, geology maps, topographical maps, and weather maps.
Our library is pleased to offer this resource that contains NASA Earth Observatory Maps, NASA Animation Maps, more than 14,000 Google Earth “skins”, U.S. Geological Survey Maps, U.S. Census Bureau Maps, and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Maps. It even has 14 glossaries with entries on topics including geography, cartography, geographic information systems, and more.
Entertaining and educational for library patrons of all ages, AtoZMapsOnline.com features 2,700 full-color flag images and icons, 300 geography crossword puzzles, 267 geography lesson plans, 30 interactive geography games, quizzes and learning tools.
It is a visual feast not to be missed when using NASA map skins that natively interact with Google Earth when superimposed and rotated on the globe. Seeing the water surface temperature of the world’s oceans come to life in this way is a thrill for every map lover.
