Free eBook Resources (from Rockaway Township Library)

Warren County Library participates in the Listen NJ program providing patrons with direct access to downloadable ebooks and audiobooks through Overdrive. Download ebooks and listen to best selling and classic audio books 24/7 on your PC, laptop, PDA or MP3 player at home, in the office or anywhere in the world.

To access the Listen NJ Audiobooks and eBooks collection, follow the instructions below.

Downloading Audiobooks and eBooks from Listen NJ NW
(Windows Media Player is required to utilize this service on a PC. Download Windows Media Player now. Apple iTunes is required to utilize this service on a Mac. Download iTunes now. )

1. Click on the Listen NJ icon on the Warrenlib.org web site.

2. If this is your first time using this service for audiobooks, you will need to download the Overdrive Media Console. Click here to download to a PC or Mac. (After installing, you may be prompted to upgrade your Windows Media Player or iTunes. Click OK and follow the prompts to do so.)

3. When you have the Media Console running, you will have the opportunity to listen to a Welcome monolog, which may help you use the software.

4. Adobe Digital Editions is required to download eBooks through this service. Click here to download Adobe Digital Editions now.

5. Return to the Listen NJ website and click on 'Login'.

6. You will be prompted to choose your library from a drop down menu. Choose ‘Warren County Library System’.

7. Type in your barcode in the box provided and click Login.

8. There is a search box on the top of the right-hand column. Below there are also categories to browse.

9. Find the item or items you wish to ‘check out’. Icons in the record will indicate if the file is compatible with your computer and portable device.

10. When you have found an item that you would like to check out, click 'add to cart'. If the item you wish to listen to is currently checked out, then click ‘place a hold’. In the instance of holds, you will be prompted for your email address so they can notify you when the item is available. (If you do an advanced search and choose ‘Blackstone Audio Inc.' as the publisher, the item will always be in because this publisher gives unlimited licenses to the library.)

11. When you have all the items you want go to ‘My Cart’ and then ‘Proceed to Checkout’.

12. Then click ‘Confirm Checkout’.

13. When you click to download the audiobook, you will be prompted to open it with the Media Console. Do this. Then you will be able to download the book in parts so that you can download the first part and start listening to it without having to wait for the whole book to download. (If you cannot download due to security settings inherent with Internet Explorer 7.0, then try using Mozilla Firefox web browser at http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/).

14. Once you have downloaded the book or parts of it, you can use the Media Console to burn CDs or download the file to an MP3 player.
