Library Card

Am I eligible for a Warren County Library card?
Residents of Warren County's 17 townships are eligible to receive a free card. The 17 townships are Allamuchy, Blairstown, Greenwich, Franklin, Frelinghuysen, Hardwick, Harmony, Hope, Independence, Knowlton, Liberty, Lopatcong, Mansfield, Oxford, Pohatcong, Washington Township, and White. Non-resident taxpayers who own property in Warren County and pay taxes to the Warren County Library are eligible to receive a free card.

Can I still get a card if I do not live in one of Warren County's 17 townships?
As of September 22, 2009, non-residents must pay $155.00 per year or $38.75 per quarter to receive a card.

How do I apply for a card?
To receive your Warren County Library Card, you must present a valid form of identification and complete a registration form at one of our library locations. You can also start the registration process by applying online- click on Apply for a Library Card button.

     Proof of Residency Identification
     Any item which is up to date and shows current name and address (no P.O. boxes) such as:
      ▪Valid property tax receipt
      ▪NJ driver's license or non-driver's license
      ▪Lease agreement
      ▪Voter registration card
      ▪Any photo ID which contains address
      ▪Utility bill or credit card bill
      ▪Witness with proper ID who can vouch for the applicant
      ▪NJ firearm purchaser card
      ▪FAA pilot license
      ▪State professional license
      ▪Bank statement
      ▪Tax return
      ▪Current health insurance card
      ▪Veteran's Administration universal access photo ID
      ▪NJ public assistance card with photo

How old do you have to be to get a card?
Children may get their own library card when they are able to print or write their first and last names on the application form.

Where can I use my library card?
After receiving your library card, you may then borrow materials from the library's Headquarters in Belvidere, the Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch in Blairstown, the Franklin Branch in Franklin Township, the Northeast Branch in Independence Township, and the Phillipsburg Free Public Library in Phillipsburg. Additionally, you can use your library card at over 150 libraries in northern New Jersey once you have the green open borrowing sticker affixed to your card. What is my PIN number when using the catalog?
Your PIN number is usually the last four digits of your phone number. For a few users, the PIN is the last four digits of their library card barcode.

Borrowing & Returning Materials

How many items can I borrow and for how long?
You may borrow up to 25 items per card. The library reserves the right to place limits on circulating materials because of high demand.

How many times can I renew materials?
All circulating materials may be renewed for 2 additional periods if they are not on reserve.

Can I renew materials online or by phone?
Yes, you can renew materials by phone, online, or in person at one of our library locations. To renew materials online, go to My Account in the catalog. Enter the barcode on the back of your library card and your PIN number. Click on Checked Out, select the items you want to renew, and click on the Renew button. All circulating materials may be renewed for 2 additional periods if they are not on reserve.

How can I obtain a list of my checked out materials, items on hold, and fines I owe?
This information is available through the online catalog under My Account. Enter the barcode on the back of your library card and your PIN number. Your PIN number is usually the last four digits of your phone number. For a few users, the PIN is the last four digits of their library card barcode.

Can I request materials that the Warren County Library does not own?
Yes, you can request to borrow materials from other libraries through interlibrary loan (ILL). Please contact the ILL staff at your respective library location to place a request. You will need to provide information such as author, title, or ISBN number in order for the staff to locate the item.

Can I return materials to a different Warren County Library location other than the one I checked them out from?
Yes. Library materials may be returned to any Warren County Library location regardless of where the materials were borrowed.

Can I return materials when the library is closed?
Bookdrops and audio-visual drop boxes are provided at each library location for the return of all library materials. Be sure to place items in the proper drop boxes. A $1.00 fine will be charged for any video cassette or CD product left in the bookdrop.

How much are fines?
A $1.00 per day fine will be charged for each overdue video, DVD, video game, and Leapfrog platform. A $1.00 fine will also be charged for any video cassette or CD product left in the bookdrop.

Can I borrow materials from other libraries besides the Warren County Library?

How do I log into My Account in the online catalog?
Once you have connected to the catalog, click on the My Account tab. Enter the barcode on the back of your library card and your PIN number to log into your account. Your PIN number is usually the last four digits of your phone number. For a few users, the PIN number is the last four digits of their library card barcode.

How do I log into the online databases from home?
For Corfacts Business Directory, HeritageQuest, JerseyClicks, and Magill's Medical Guide, select the "Login from HOME" link on the Reference page. When prompted, enter the fourteen digit barcode from your library card. Begin searching.

To access the InfoTrac and EBSCO databases from home:
1. Click on the Online Databases link on the home page.
2. Select the "Login from HOME" link.
3. Enter the fourteen digit barcode from your library card.
4. Choose either InfoTrac or EBSCO.
5. Select the specific database you want.
6. Begin searching.


How do I download audiobooks and eBooks?

How do I become a library volunteer?
All four Warren County Library locations rely on volunteers to support and extend their services. Please contact the library location where you would like to volunteer for more details.

How do I join the Friends of the Library?
Three of our locations- Headquarters, Franklin Branch, and Northeast Branch- have Friends organizations, which support the continued growth of the library. Please contact the library location where you would like to join the Friends for more details. The Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch has a Board of Trustees, which functions in an equivalent manner to the Friends organizations.

Services & Facilities

How can I find the library's newest books, DVDs, and CDs?
Sign up to receive free weekly emails detailing the library's newest purchases in books, music, and movies.

I am homebound and unable to visit the library. Can I still utilize the library's services?
Yes. Books, audio books, and music CDs are delivered to Warren County residents who because of significant impaired mobility are unable to leave their home for a visit to the library.  To see if you are eligible, please call the Bookmobile and Library Outreach Services Department at 908-475-6378.

Do you have public Internet access computers?
Yes. We have computers with internet access available to the public at all four locations.

What programs are available on the public computers?
The public computers have Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point available on them.

Do you have a public fax machine?
None of our library locations have a public fax machine.

How much do photocopies and computer printouts cost?
Photocopies and black and white computer printouts are 10¢ a page. Color computer printouts are 25¢ a page.

Can I reserve a meeting room?
Meeting room facilities are only available at Headquarters (908-475-6322) and the Catherine Dickson Hofman Branch (908-362-8335). Please read through the Meeting Room Policies. If you would like to reserve a meeting room, please contact the library directly.

Can I have an exam proctored at the library?
You can have an exam proctored at all four library locations. Please contact the library directly to set up a date and time for the examination.
